1830 United States Federal Census (

In the 1830 federal census, the town of Milford appears under the town of Middlebury. The digitized collection for this town contains 40 images. The first 12 images of the series were indeed labeled Middlebury on the original pages, which are pages 271-276 from that town. (Each image is one-half of a double-spread “page” as originally numbered.) Beginning with image 13, however, the numbering jumps to page 279 and the town name becomes Milford – rendered only slightly obscure by the scribe's handwriting, which features a spiky terminal “d”.
